From outside the United Kingdom too, London is very easy to reach. With a large number of airports in easy reach of the capital, it has never been easier to simply hop onto a plane from anywhere in Europe, or indeed the rest of the world, and be in the centre of London within only a few hours.

Heathrow airport can even be reached on the tube, and is in Zone 6 of the tube network. Catching a tube from Central London to Heathrow Airport will take as little as 40 minutes. Travellers should take the Piccadilly Line.

Alternatively, Stanstead Airport in Essex and Gatwick Airport in Sussex are also within very easy reach. The Gatwick Express train, which leaves from most major London over ground stations, can take as little as 30 minutes to reach the airport and will cost less than £20.

Rail links to everywhere else in the United Kingdom are exceptionally good, with the main stations being Kings Cross St Pancras International, Victoria and Euston. Express trains from these stations, as well as from other major rail stations in Central London, mean that the Yorkshire Dales can be reached in less than 2 hours, the North West coast in less than 3 hours and Edinburgh in around 5 hours.

For students and those wanting to save money, one good option for travelling to London is the Megabus. The Megabus runs all across the country, from the majority of towns and cities, and offers travel at a very cheap price. Booking seats from northern towns to London in advance means travellers can pay as little as £1 return, and even when booking only a few days before the seats will never be more than £15.
