London Sightseeing
Tourists visiting London will not be disappointed by the number of sightseeing
opportunities. With so many things to do and to see, it
is likely that visitors will need to return more than
once, in order to see everything that they want to –and
this is no bad thing, as with so many places of cultural
and social significance, London really isn’t a place that
people can get bored with quickly.
One of the first things to note is that a great number
of the attractions in London are completely free. Places
such as the majority of the National Gallery and the most
famous London museums do not cosy anything to enter, so
they are well worth a look for anyone who is visiting
the capital. Another place of significance is Westminster
Abbey, which does cost a small amount to enter, but is
spectacular inside. Guests can expect to see the coronation
throne that has been used by every monarch since the 12th
Century, as well as Poet’s Corner, where a large proportion
of the country’s most famous writers are buried.
A good thing to do may be to take a cruise down the Thames
towards Canary Wharf, taking in the sights of Big Ben,
Parliament, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre along the
way. A lot of the most famous London sights can be seen
from the water, and it certainly is a pleasant way to
travel. If the tourist wants to get closer to Parliament
and the government buildings, it is very interesting to
take a walk around Whitehall, where there are a number
of famous buildings, including the Cabinet War Rooms,
where many of the most influential decisions in history
have been made.
Walking through Whitehall will lead towards Buckingham
Palace, and if arriving in the mid-morning visitors can
look forward to seeing the historical spectacle that is
the changing of the guard. This is one of the most famous
things about London, and something that visitors often
wish to see.
After walking around London all day is might be nice
to take a trip on the London Eye, the world famous Ferris
wheel that gives spectacular views of the city.
This will be an unforgettable experience, and there really
is no better way to see London from the air. |
